SUMMARY & OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for conception, design, debug of electrical schematics using AutoCAD and EPLAN. Understand and comply with company and customer specifications. Complete understanding of normalized electrical standards for machinery. Be able to generate final machine schematics.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understanding and ensuring compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards of the country in which work is undertaken
• Create a controls architecture from a sales quotation.
• Working collaboratively with mechanical design engineers, software engineers, purchasers and other internal staff.
• Thorough understanding mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drawings.
• Review and evaluate customer specifications.
• Participate in machine Risk Assessments and design a safety circuit to meet the Risk Assessment results.
• Generate electrical drawings with CAE systems AutoCAD or EPLAN.
• Work alone or with other Controls Engineers in debugging machine wiring.
• Understand relevant machine control system specifications (NFPA70, NFPA79, ISO13984, EN60204-1, RA15.6.)
• Design, test and document safety systems for the machines adhering to established country -specific requirements (Pilz, AB, Siemens, etc.)
• Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent (desired but not required).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience designing electrical schematics for complex high-volume production systems for automotive and/or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in at least one of these CAE systems: AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN
• Understanding of OSHA Risk assessments and Risk mitigation.
• Able to Program PLCs and HMIs a plus.
• Understand budget requirements and project schedule. Accountable for project schedule and budget requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is exempt

TRAVEL:

Up to 5-10% travel may be expected. Ability to adapt quickly to new assignments is required.
